About us

Tynedale Harriers and Athletic Club was formed in the late 1970s by a group of local runners passionate about their sport. Many of the founder members are still active within the club.

The club training nights are  Tuesday and Thursday, with Juniors training from 6pm to 7pm and Seniors from 7pm to 8pm on Tuesdays (see news section for schedule). Specialist coaching is also available for specific events every Thursday from 6pm to 7pm for both juniors and seniors. High levels of coaching expertise are offered by a team of qualified UK Athletics coaches and includes sprints, endurance running, jumps, hurdling and throwing.

The aims and abilities of members varies widely. Some choose to develop their skills and levels of fitness through training and participating in events within the club. Others compete at the highest level regionally, nationally and internationally. At whatever level you wish to be involved in athletics, Tynedale Harriers offers excellent access and assistance.

Tynedale Harriers also has a lively social side with handicap races, pub runs, an annual dinner, a women's weekend away and various other events.

More detailed infomation can be found via our Junior, Senior and Vets, Non Competitive Involvement and Social Scene links on the left.

Tynedale Harriers & Athletic Club is one of 12 clubs in the region and amongst the first 100 in the country to be awarded the Club Mark Accreditation from England Athletics & Sport England.

This is awarded to clubs that are committed to providing quality coaching in a safe and child friendly environment for children, young people, their parents, carers and those with an interest in the sport.
