Old Monks Race

With this being a Club Grand Prix counter a great turnout of twelve Tynedale Harriers turned up for this race on Sunday. I don’t know if any of us would have thought to drive to Hartlepool for an obscure 5.5 mile mixed terrain race normally, but that is the joy of the Grand Prix – bringing club members together for a range of different races and this one turned out to be a great little race. Good field, well marshalled and an interesting route with a bit of everything – from tarmac and runnable trails to steep muddy woodland paths. And to finish a fine spread of cakes to go with the tea and coffee. Good on Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers!

Richard Parker put in a typically impressive performance, coming in 4th overall and first Tynedale by over 4 minutes. 2nd Tynedale was Rob Carter, with Ivan Newton not far behind. Ist Tynedale lady was Joanne Lee, who was also 1st lady vet 35 and 2nd lady overall. 2nd Tynedale lady was Steph Scott and 3rd was Beth Gregory-Smith.
